Afrigator is a social media aggregator and directory built especially for African digital citizens who publish and consume content on the Web. They would like to see it become your choice for African social media in one place, in one bite.

You can use Afrigator to index your blog, podcast, videocast or news site (i.e. any site that publishes an RSS feed) and market it to the rest of Africa and the world. You can also use it to discover new sites in the Afrosphere.

Afrigator is an independent service, non-affiliated to anyone but you, the Afrosphere.

They also promise an ad-free environment. Yes, they plan to make money, but not that way! More on that as they move out of the development stages…

Probably most exciting for us is just how powerful Afrigator can be when used smartly. They’ve tried to capture data from feeds in such a way so that you can manipulate it to find what you want, when you want it and have it all delivered to you via RSS. More on that below.

They realized early on the importance of making Afrigator accessible via mobile phones for individuals and regions that might not have great Internet connectivity. They are working hard on making this as slick as possible. Check out afrigator.mobi for developments.

Afrigator also offers everything you’d expect from a blog directory – blog stats, a personal profile and more. Check out the features wiki for a glimpse of what’s next on their agenda.
